A voter may write-in the name of a candidate on the ballot in Vermont.
Voters must write in the name and register the vote by making a mark in the ballot in the appropriate space selecting the write-in option. Otherwise, the vote may not be counted. Please see the sample ballot.
In VT, both "Bernie Sanders" and "Bernard Sanders" are acceptable and will be cumulatively totaled. In VT, the tallies would be done by the SoS, not the counties so this should be uniformly be applied to all write-ins.
A VP is not needed, as Bernie will select a VP after his win, but if you wish to write in a VP, we suggest “BernieSanders, Vermont and Tulsi Gabbard, Hawaii,” which is consistent with the printed choices on the VT ballot.
No rules regarding photos in polling places. Clerks are encouraged to adopt specific rules for their polling places to maintain order, according to Jim Condos, a spokesman for the secretary of state. We encourage voters to keep a copy of their ballots.
